Overview
Embark on the Equator To The Rift Safari, beginning in Meru National Park, home to diverse wildlife and Elsa’s grave. Then, venture into Maasai Mara for thrilling game drives, including the Great Wildebeest Migration. Enjoy luxury camps, bushwalks, and cultural experiences.
6 Day Itinerary
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport with VIP meet & assist service included/Or pick up from your NBO Hotel, you will be assisted to meet our representative for safari briefing and transfer you to Wilson Airport to board approx. 1-hour light flight to Kinna Airstrip, Meru National Park. Take approx. 45 min drive to the lodge with a game drive enroute. Arrive in time for your check in and lunch at your lodge. Afternoon will be at leisure and later proceed for evening game drive. Elsa’s Kopje’s cottages are crafted around the rocks and suspended on a hill, with a large bedroom, open sitting room, veranda, and spacious bathroom, each with breathtaking game views across the park.
Inclusions at Elsa’s Kopje. – Full-board package, scheduled and shared game drives, bush breakfast, fishing activity, visit Meru Rhino Sanctuary, sundowners, transfers to and from our designated airstrips, Soft drinks, local spirits, house wines and local beers (excludes champagne, private cellar wines and premium spirit/beers.
Overnight at Elsa’s Kopje – Lunch, dinner, and breakfast
Rise up early for a morning game drive inside the park. Guests will enjoy breath-taking views of snowcapped peaks of Mt Kenya before clouds build up over the summit. Meru National Park is one of the least visited parks in the country. Consequently, it is mostly unscathed and minimal human encroachment affects the park. It is also home to the black and white rhino sanctuary where the big endangered white rhinos have been sheltered to protect them from poachers and eventual extinction. You will also visit the grave of ‘Elsa’ the famous lioness. Elsa the lioness was made famous in the award-winning movie ‘BORN FREE’ and the bestselling book written by Joy Adamson with the same title and was buried inside the park. Guests will see different flora and fauna including the ‘big five’ and the ‘special five’ which are exclusively found north of the equator.
Overnight at Elsa’s Kopje – Lunch, dinner, and breakfast
Wake up just in time for breakfast at 0730hrs. Depart from Meru at 0830hrs and drive to Kinna Airstrip, and board a chartered flight to Siana Airstrip inside Maasai Mara National Reserve. Maasai Mara is renowned for its large population of big cats, and it is where National Geographic filmed the famous ‘Big Cat Diary’ documentary. The reserve is also home to the annual wildebeest migration that starts from July to mid-September. Transfer from the airstrip to the lodge takes approx. 45 minutes with a game drive enroute. Arrive at the lodge just in time for lunch. Guests will have some time to rest then depart for an evening game drive at 1600hrs and return to the camp by 1845hrs.
Overnight at Mara Bush tops Camp – Lunch, dinner, and breakfast
On this day you will enjoy your morning and afternoon/full day game drives in the world’s famous Maasai Mara where you will have high chances of seeing animals like Lions, Giraffes, Rhinos, elephants, topis and hyenas. Mara Bushtops is set within their own private wildlife reserve. Alongside the Masai, access to the Conservancy is exclusive to their Bushtops guests, who benefit from private night and off-road game drives, walking safaris direct from the Camp, sundowners, sunrises on the Sekenani hill and visits to the nearby Kakiya cave.
Inclusions at Mara Bushtops Camp. – Full board accommodation including 3 meals per person per night, 2 extended game drives daily or full day game drive on shared basis with bush lunch, sun downer, night game drive, walking safaris (not permitted for children under the age of 16 years), Transfers from Siana airstrip, Laundry, Wi-Fi, complimentary membership to on-site Amani African Spa Village – includes the use of the solar heated swimming pool, cold pool, Jacuzzi, Sauna, steam room and gym (fees apply for treatments and massages), Non-alcoholic drinks, beers, house wines and selected house spirits. For Honeymooners – a private bush breakfast and bottle of bubbly on arrival.
Overnight at Mara Bush tops Camp – Lunch, dinner, and breakfast
Guests will enjoy the entire day at the Mara Reserve and enjoy exclusive breath-taking wildlife views the renowned reserve has to offer. Guests also have the option of having a guided bushwalks across the savannah in the company of an armed ranger and a local Maasai guide. Optional activities such as hot air balloon safari, horseback safari and a cultural visit to a Maasai village can be organised at an extra cost. Balloon safaris must be booked one day in advance. You can also return to the lodge in the afternoon to enjoy the lodge’s amenities.
Overnight at Mara Bush tops Camp – Lunch, dinner, and breakfast
On this morning, you will have breakfast at your camp then check out. You will then be transferred to Siana Airstrip for a departure flight to Wilson Airport, Nairobi. On arrival in Nairobi, you will drive to Talisman restaurant for a farewell lunch/early dinner, and later transfer to JKIA for your flight back home or you will be dropped off at your pickup hotel. Guests who wish to continue will proceed to Amboseli National Park.

Passenger Information:
- Passengers should bring only soft sided bags on safaris
- All the passengers must have Identification Card/Passport with them for internal flights Baggage on internal flights is strictly limited to 15kgs per person (including hand luggage).
- Any excess baggage will be charged by the airline at check-in.
- Passengers arriving in Kenya and Tanzania may be asked to present a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
Payment terms: Unless the agent/client has an approved credit facility in writing from Primate Tours (Credit facility currently not applicable), the agent/client is required to make full/deposit payment prior to final confirmation of reservations.
Payments must be made in the nominated currency (US Dollars), and conversion between USD & Kenya Shilling currency will be subject to applicable exchange rate provided by Central Bank of Kenya at the time of payment/conversion. Payments are payable to our accounts directly with details indicated in all our invoices and fiscal receipt to be provided as a proof of payment.
Deposit requirements: We require a 30% deposit of the total value of the respective booking to confirm any service outside 90 days prior to date of arrival, any other special activities/service that require payments in full upon confirmation i.e. Flights, Gorilla permits etc, will also be paid in full at the time of confirmation.
For bookings falling between 61 – 90 days prior to the date of arrival, we require a 50% deposit to confirm the booking.
For bookings falling between 1 – 60 days prior to the date of arrival, we require a 100% deposit to confirm the booking.
Deposit; some properties may require 100% payment to confirm their bookings, we advise that you reconfirm with our reservation team at the time of booking.
Single Room Policy; All properties allow a maximum of 03 single rooms per group (Inclusive of TL room where applicable), any extra single room above this number will be charged a full double room rate, please check with our reservations team for the exact supplement amount applicable in case of a bigger number of Single rooms.
Proration; Please note that for booking that has dates crossing from one season to next succeed season will be subject to proration to establish the exact cost, always check with our reservations to reconfirm on exact cost.
